Green Statement

Legacy has been a “green” company since inception. We exceed mandated environmental compliance and have made conservation and sustainability central in our daily operations. We use our resources wisely, and are committed to preserving them for future generations. We are persistently improving our manufacturing processes with responsible environmental choices.

We use sustainable solid wood products from managed forests and engineered wood products made from recycled woods. We recycle sawdust to provide animal bedding, erosion control and generation of steam for sterilization of surgical instruments.

Our foam cushions and fillings are made of low emission materials. Our environmentally friendly finishes are durable and attractive. Our environmentally conscious choices do not compromise the durability and longevity of our products. We design and build our products for many years of use, renewability and significant return on investment.

Environmentally Conscious

We recycle all excess or non reusable wood into sawdust that is sold to the North Carolina Highway Patrol for Highway Beautification and Erosion Control.

  • All of our Metal Frames are 75% recycled and painted with low VOC paints and polymers.
  • Legacy is constantly training and promoting Environmental Consciousness in their Marketing and Sales’ Campaigns
  • We support Habitat for Humanity and offer a up to 5% rebate for any customers who can provide documentation that they donated their old furniture, (that was replaced by ours,) to that cause. (Salvation Army and other establishments are considered as well.)
  • We have an Internal Recycling Program that includes recycling of all excess fabrics, aluminum, steel, papers, cardboard, and plastic containers.
  • Our corrugated Products are made with 60% of recycled fibers. We work with two of our vendors that take the boxes that are collected at Legacy and use them for truck padding that is passed from truck to truck as well as reused to package our furniture from their warehouses and plants back to ours.
  • We are promoting our Green Fabric lines and giving customers and sales reps additional tools needed to help meet LEED Certification.
  • Our Wood Manufacturing Plant recycles the air removing the dust particles in intervals of 10 minutes making the environment safer for the employees.
  • We are promoting the Agion line in our Vinyls which is a long lasting, safe, broad spectrum antimicrobial technology that actively targets microorganisms and bacteria on the protected surface of the upholstery. This Agion Technology also is PVC and plasticizer free.

Agion Vinyls

Introducing the next generation of bacteria-resistant upholstery featuring Agion-Silver Ion technology… Isn’t Science Beautiful.

What is Agion®?

Agion (silver ion) is a patented, long-lasting, safe, broad-spectrum antimicrobial technology that actively targets microorganisms and bacteria on the protected surface of the upholstery.

How does Agion antimicrobial technology work?

Silver is a naturally occurring and effective antimicrobial material in its ionic form. The Agion patented antimicrobial is “built in” to the upholstery and becomes an integral part of the material, unlike less permanent antimicrobial treatments. Upon contact with moisture (ambient moisture, a sneeze, human contact, etc.) silver ions are activated and released at a slow and steady rate to provide continuous long-lasting protection against damaging bacteria and odor-causing mold, as well as many other microbes.

Is Agion antimicrobial technology safe?

Agion antimicrobials (as an additive) are EPA-registered for a broad range of uses, including uses that involve food and water contact In addition, they are FDA-listed.

Why are PVC-free and plasticizer-free important?

PVC (polyvinyl chloride) contains many additives that can create toxic emissions when disposed of by incineration or landfill. The chemicals in the toxic emissions are both harmful to humans and the environment. These revolutionary new upholstery fabrics provide a “Reduced Environmental Impact” by being PVC-free. Plasticizers are typically used in PVC (vinyl) products to soften the “hand” of the product. Plasticizers can leach out of the product over time. Some plasticizers are considered to be toxic, and therefore potentially dangerous. These products do not contain plasticizers, yet remain soft, pliable, and actually increase the comfort of your furniture.

Do these fabrics include moisture-barrier protection?

Yes. These fabrics are impervious to liquids and do not allow liquid of any kind to penetrate or pass through to the furniture’s under padding.

Are these fabrics cleanable and easy to maintain?

Yes. Most stains are removed easily with soap and water. It is always recommended to remove stains promptly, as the longer a stain remains on your furniture, the more difficult it will be to remove.
